La organización del , torneo impulsado por , optó por cancelar el resto de la gira, debido a que algunos de sus participantes se habían contagiado de coronavirus, entre los que se encuentran Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric y el mismo ‘Nole’.

El anunció se dio a través de una comunicado publicado por los medios oficiales de este certamen. “Después de una reunión con todos los miembros del Comité Organizador del Adria Tour, se decidió que el torneo no podrá continuar y, por lo tanto, los partidos en Banja Luka y Sarajevo no se celebrarán”, dice el texto.

“Lamentamos mucho tener que dejar de organizar los próximos torneos del tour. Estábamos ansiosos por promover el deporte y brindar apoyo financiero a los jugadores locales”, expresó Djordje Djokovic, director del certamen y hermano menor del número uno del mundo.

Sin adecuadas medidas sanitarias

El Adria Tour, que se realizó en los países de Los Balcanes, fue polémico porque no contó con rigurosos protocolos de seguridad a pesar de que en el mundo se vive una pandemia. No se respetó el distanciamiento social y en las gradas la gente estaba sin mascarillas, al igual que los tenistas participantes.

Todo esto originó que Grigor Dimitrov diera positivo en coronavirus el último domingo. Luego, se sumó Borna Coric y finalmente Novak Djokoivc. Los tres habían formado parte de la segunda fecha del Adria Tour en Zadar (Croacia), en donde no se jugó la final pues ya se conocía que Grigor estaba con SARS-CoV-2.

Además, durante esta gira, ‘Nole’ y Dimitrov se dejaron ver en actos públicos y acudieron a una fiesta privada junto a Alexander Zverev y Dominic Thiem. Estos dos últimos, sin embargo, no se enfermaron de covid-19.

We appreciate that and we are remaining friends, while hoping that we will make our idea happen, as soon as the conditions allow it", Djokovic emphasized. ⠀ In the end, Djordje Djokovic reminded that the idea of ​​Adria Tour sports event was of charity nature, with the goal of helping players from the region increase their earnings, supporting charity organizations and promoting good values. ⠀ "We now remain focused on supporting all those who have been infected with the Covid-19, wishing them to recover as soon as possible", said the Organizing Committee.
