England’s Euro 2024 campaign took another hit as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Denmark in Frankfurt on Thursday. The result leaves the Three Lions’ qualification for the knockout stage hanging in the balance, with concerns mounting about their lack of fluency and creativity.
Harry Kane opened the scoring for England in the 18th minute, but Morten Hjulmand equalized for Denmark with a long-range strike just 16 minutes later. The draw was a fair reflection of the game, with both sides creating chances but failing to capitalize.
This was a repeat of the 2021 semi-final, which England won 2-1 after extra time. However, the current England side has looked far less impressive in this tournament. They scraped past Serbia 1-0 in their opening match, and their performance against Denmark was far from convincing.
The draw is a setback for England, but they are still in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stage. They face Slovenia in their final group match on June 25th, and a win would secure their place in the next round. Denmark, meanwhile, need to beat Serbia in their final match to have any chance of qualifying.

England won their first match in the group stage of Euro 2024, 1-0 against Serbia with a goal by Jude Bellingham, at the Veltins-Arena, and set their qualification to the round of 16 on track. Considering that all the first and second-placed teams, plus the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the next round, it will be very difficult for La Rosa to be left out. After the match against Denmark, they will close the group against Slovenia at the Rhein Energie Stadion in Cologne.
Denmark drew against Slovenia and complicated their situation for the next stage; they started winning with a goal by Cristian Eriksen and were tied at the end. Now they must face the, a priori, most powerful team in the group and will close against Serbia at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
