What do the judges evaluate?
In the Mr. Olympia Figure category, IFBB Pro League judges evaluate a very specific balance between athletic development and a streamlined aesthetic, distinguishing it from categories requiring greater mass, such as Women’s Bodybuilding or Women’s Physique.
- Symmetry, Balance, and the “X” Shape: A balanced and proportional body structure is sought. Judges value width in the back (good depth and breadth), round shoulders without exaggerated volume, a small waist, and adequate lower-body development that together create an “X”-shaped silhouette.
- Moderate Degree of Muscularity and Tone: Athletes must display a firm, toned physique with defined lines. However, they should not present the extreme hardness, massive density, heavy vascularity, or deep striations typical of open bodybuilding divisions.
- Clean Condition: A low body fat percentage is required to show clean muscle separation while completely avoiding a “dry” or “grainy” look.
- Presentation and Quarter Turns: The evaluation includes the flawless execution of the four quarter-turn poses (front, side, and back), analyzing composure, elegance when walking in heels, and stage grace.
- The Total Package: General stage presentation is highly regarded, covering the harmony of skin tone (competition tan), makeup, hair, and swimwear (regulation two-piece bikini), ensuring all elements complement the competitor’s elegance and confidence.
