The 2025 PGA TOUR season has begun with the Opening Drive at The Sentry, the first of eight Signature Event status golf tournaments of the season at the Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course in Maui, Hawaii, where it has been held since 199. Thirty-one PGA TOUR tournament winners, including 15 first-time winners, and 29 players who finished in the top 50 in the 2024 FedExCup standings are competing at this event for a hefty prize pool of $20 million, of which the winner will walk away with $3.6 million. Hideki Matsuyama leads at 16 under par after two consecutive rounds of 65. Collin Morikawa follows closely with a 65 and five consecutive birdies, placing him in second place. Corey Conners and Maverick McNealy are tied at 14 under par, while Keegan Bradley, captain of the U.S. Ryder Cup 2025 team, and Tom Hoge are tied at 13 under par. Viktor Hovland, who recently shared an X-ray of his broken pinky finger on social media, has posted rounds of 69-70 to stand at 7 under par. The entry for The Sentry -formerly known as the Tournament of Champions- is restricted to winners of previous season’s PGA TOUR tournaments or those who finished in the top 50 in the FedExCup standings.
